The Zoograss Boys

Can playing music send you to the zoo?  We will just have to ask that important question of the official Zoograss Boys who formed in 1998.  All the members of this group really do have an association with the Tulsa Zoo:  Larry Nunley, Zoo Director--Retired (guitar and vocals); Stephen Walker, Assistant Director (guitar and vocals); Andrew Branson, Animal Curator (banjo); Larry Dobbs, Tulsa Zoo Friend members (mandolin and vocals); Roger Harmon, Tulsa Zoo Friend member (fiddle); and Gary Stout, Tulsa Zoo Friends member (bass).

They really formed to just have fun with the music they love.  The group has played at many zoo functions as well as the Oklahoma Bluegrass and Chili festival and other bluegrass events around the state.  They manage to fit in band practice time during lunch breaks on Zoo grounds, and love to play any opportunity they get.  Audiences always love the “fun” attitude they possess on stage and love to hear the stories and anecdotes about the zoo.

Does music calm the savage or not so savage animal?…Only the Zoograss Boys know for sure.
